Jokes of the Day

Maple Leaf

A little old man was escorted into the witness box. After he was sworn in, the lawyer asked him to explain what happened.

After a lengthy discussion of the events leading up to the incident, he finally got around to the meat of the case: “…and then she hit me with a maple leaf.”

“Surely that couldn’t have caused you any serious injury?” said the lawyer.

“Are you kidding?” exclaimed the old man. “It was the leaf from the center of our dining room table.”

Dentist Appointment

A man and his wife walked into a dentist’s office.

The man said to the dentist, “Doc, I’m in a terrible hurry. I have two buddies sitting out in my car waiting for us to go play golf. Forget about the anesthetic; I don’t have time for the gums to get numb. I just want you to pull the tooth and be done with it! We have a 10:00 AM tee time at the best golf course in town, and it’s 9:30 already. I don’t have time to wait for the anesthetic to work.”

The dentist thought to himself, “My goodness, this is surely a very brave man, asking to have his tooth pulled without using anything to kill the pain.”

So the dentist asked him, “Which tooth is it, sir?”

The man turned to his wife and said, “Open your mouth, honey, and show him.”

Salvation Army Check

Giving through Golf

Thanks to our golfers this summer over $3,200 has donated to the Salvation Army to support their work throughout Minnesota.  The top team from each of our three events will be competing at Madden’s for the coveted ServiceMaster Cup Championship in late September.  They will be challenging last year’s winning team to make it a four team event.

Giving at Trade Shows

This summer, we had the privilege of attending trade shows and seeing a lot of agents from our great state of Minnesota and North Dakota. We wanted to do something a little different this year, so the winners of our drawings earned a $200 donation to the agents’ charity of their choice.

Image 1The first show was the Minnesota Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers (MIIAB) at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The winners of the first charity give away was Nate Hintze from Valley Insurance in Minnetonka. The charity he chose as the winner was El Amor De Patricia, which is an organization that helps Guatemala children and families reach their full potential. The second winner was Christine Stang from North Central Insurance in Elk River.  Her charity of choice was CAER which provides food and clothing for residents of the Elk River area.

Image 2The second show was the Professional Insurance Agents of North Dakota (PIAND) on May 5th in Bismarck. This was the first time we attended this event and Patrick was very impressed with the event and how well it was organized. The winner there was Laurie Sundeen of BIM insurance in Bismarck. The charity she chose was Wounded Warriors, whose mission is to honor and empower these special service men and women.

Image 3Our third show was Farmers Insurance convention at Mystic Lake Casino. The agent that won at this event was Jason Kochevar from Plymouth. The charity he chose was Homeward Bound, an organization that helps provide innovative and life-enriching services to children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities.

Image 4We have one more trade show in September, the Professional Insurance Agents of Minnesota (PIAMN). We look forward to seeing many of you at our booth. We had some great feedback about our partnership with agents and charities. We plan on doing this again next year! It is a great feeling to help out all of the charities that we were able to do this year. A big thank you to all of you!

Book to Read: Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand

Unbroken Book #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • SOON TO BE A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE • Hailed as the top nonfiction book of the year by Time magazine • Winner of the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for biography and the Indies Choice Adult Nonfiction Book of the Year award

On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared. It was that of a young lieutenant, the plane’s bombardier, who was struggling to a life raft and pulling himself aboard. So began one of the most extraordinary odysseys of the Second World War.
